SARAH REBECCA (TAYLOR) ABRAM

─═════════ ✿ڰۣڿ✿ Biography ✿ڰۣڿ✿ ═════════─

Sarah Rebecca Taylor was born on Friday, 22 September 1843, in Greene County, Indiana. Her father, John, was 46 years old and her mother, Rebecca, was 42. She would be the last known child born to this union. She lived in Greene County nearly all of her life. She married David Abram on Thursday, 27 November 1862, and they settled in Greene County where they had their family. Sarah and David had a total of 11 children, beginning with their daughter, Margaret, who was born just three days shy of her parents first wedding anniversary.

Sarah and David continued to live in Greene County, with Sarah taking care of the children and home while, David successfully farmed their land. So successful that on nearly every census taken it states that they owned their home and land mortgage free.

Sometime before 1910, Sarah and David decided to move from Beech Creek, Greene County, to Van Buren Township, Monroe County, Indiana. It's unclear when they moved to Monroe County or how long they stayed there, but by the time David passed away in 1915, they were back in Greene County living in Hendricksville.

After David's death Sarah eventually ended up living with her son, Daniel. Daniel had lost his wife two years prior to his father's death and he had two boys to raise. Helping her son raise his boys was the probable reason why she moved in. Sarah stayed with her son and grandsons until her death.

Sarah died on Friday, 22 September 1922, at the age of 79. She was buried at Liberty Cemetery in her beloved Greene County.

─═════════ ✿ڰۣڿ✿ Census Summary ✿ڰۣڿ✿ ═════════─

1850 US Federal Census. Seven year old Sarah is living in Greene County, Indiana, with her parents, John and Rebecca along with seven of her siblings.
1860 US Federal Census. Sarah is 17 years and living with her father and step-mom in Pike Township, Monroe County, Indiana. Sarah has become a half sister to John, age 4 and Charlotta, age 2, children from her father's second marriage. Sarah would lose her father shortly after this census was taken. Census information was gathered in June 1860 and her father's estate was opened around October of that year, meaning John died between June and Oct.
1870 US Federal Census. Before the 1870 census was taken Sarah married David Abrams on November 27, 1862, in Greene County. At the time they had three children: Margaret age 5, Rebecca age 3 and Huldah age 1. Sarah was 24 years old and was a housewife. She and David were living in Beech Creek, Greene County, Indiana with their three daughters.
1880 US Federal Census. In 1880 Sarah, 36, was still living in Beech Creek with David but her family had grown to five daughters total. Margaret, age 16; Rebecca, age 13; Huldah, age 11; Sarah, age 5 and a daughter who was either "born dead" or died at the age of one.
1900 US Federal Census. Sarah and David are living in Beech Creek. Sons Adam and Daniel are living with them along with grandson, Amos Abram. It states that she has had a total of 11 children with 4 children living. The other two living children, besides Adam and Daniel, are daughters Rebecca Catherine and Sarah (Sadie).
1910 US Federal Census. Before 1910 Sarah and David moved from Beech Creek to Van Buren Township, Monroe County, Indiana. Their son, Adam, passed away at the age of 23, leaving only three children remaining. David is 69 years old and still farming. Sarah is 66 years old. Before 1920 Sarah moves in with her son, Daniel, in Beech Creek, Indiana. Daniel had lost his wife, Minnie, in 1913, so it's possible that Sarah moved in with him to help raise the children.
