Monica M. Maertz, age 90, of Reedsville died on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, at St. Mary's Home.
Monica was born on March 13, 1918, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late John "Jack" and Mary (Panowitz) Kraemer. She attended St. Boniface Catholic School, Manitowoc. She graduated from Lincoln High School, Manitowoc, with the class of 1936. She married William "Bill" Maertz on June 25, 1941. He preceded her in death on July 21, 1989. Monica was a member of Holy Family Catholic church, Brillion, and the Christian Mothers. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Monica enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of bridge clubs in Brillion and Reedsville.
Survivors include two daughters: Virginia Maertz and Cynthia Maertz; one sister-in-law: Janice Maertz; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; father-in-law and mother-in-law: William and Emma Maertz; one sister: Evelyn Marx; two brothers-in-law: Rodney Marx and Carroll Maertz; and one nephew: Eric Maertz.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb, 21, 2009, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Brillion. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Father Mathew Simonar. Entombment will be at Knollwood Mausoleum, Highway 310, Manitowoc.
Relatives and friends may call at church Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:30 a.m.
