Mr. Addington was a local businessman for 33 Years, 28 of which he was owner and operator of Addington Chevrolet and retired in 1980. He also served as Mayor for the town of Coeburn for several years a member of Kiwainis Club, charter member of U.C.T., & member and Deacon Advisor of the Church of the Living God, Pillar, Ground and Truth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Washington and Cora Irene McConnell Addington, 2 brothers, Hubert Benjamin and Max Earl Addington, and 1 sister, Clara Addington Hayes.
Survivors include: a son, Billy Joe Addington, Coeburn, a daughter, Sharon Addington Austin, Coeburn, a sister, Eulala Castle Nickelsville, special friends, Ann Keith, Coeburn, Peggy Jo Bishop, Blountville, TN & Joy Smallwood, Kingsport, 5 grandsons, Greg Addington, Brandon Addington, Steve Austin, Jerry Austin and Michael Austin; 2 granddaughters, Angie Addington Hutson & Cassandra Austin; 1 great-granddaughter, Beth Hutson; several nephews, several nieces.
Funeral services for Barney C. Addington will be held Sunday, June 11, 2000 at 2:00 P.M. at Estes Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Tom Monohan & Rev. G.D. Peters and Rev. Scott Powers & Sister Buretta Dye will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Memorial Gardens in Coeburn. Visitation will be held at Estes Funeral Home on Saturday after 6:00 P.M.
