John F. Sanders, age 67, of 4160 Calumet Ave., Manitowoc, died Tuesday, May 11, 2004, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 15, 2004 at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, 928 S. 14th St., Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Richard Klingeisen. Cremation has already taken place.

John was born Sept. 19, 1936 in Milwaukee, son of the late George and Mary Bannach Sanders. On Oct. 30, 1954, he married Elaine Rudy, in Milwaukee. John was employed as a drywall contractor for many years, retiring in 2000. He was currently employed as a houseparent for teenagers at the Oaks Shelter Home in Manitowoc.

Survivors include his loving wife: Elaine Sanders, Manitowoc: four daughters and three sons-in-law: Deborah and Steve Mergy, Florida; Wendy and Darrell Anderson, California; Kim Sanders and Mark, Manitowoc; and Michelle and Glenn Siegman, Phoenix; one son: John Sanders Jr. and Denise, Milwaukee; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five brothers: Bob, Al, Fred, Brian and Joe: and three sisters: Chuckie, Jeanie and Diane.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the Pfeffer Funeral Home and Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of service at 11 a.m.

John was a family man first and foremost. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and hunter. John was also known as "Johnnie Cool." He could light up a room with his smile; his laughter was contagious. His favorite pastime was his annual deer-hunting trip in Glidden with his son, brothers, nephews and friends. John was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all.
