Mom was the consummate homemaker finding pleasure and purpose in making the house a home. Whether baking bread, ironing the family wash or making beautiful quilts, her efforts were always part of the loving relationship with Dad and the role they played together providing for the family. These roles were initiated in childhood when she worked at her family's boarding house serving the college students at Oshkosh Normal (the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh). This attention to the needs of the home and family became the model for her life. The family thanks all who helped give mom's life meaning and dignity She especially found joy and comfort in the friends on Menasha Avenue, St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Mary's Circle, P.E.O. and most recently her friends at Wisteria Haus. Her life was enriched by these friendships and their gentle acts of kindness.

The family also thanks the special care given by Dr. Donald DeBruyn, whom she trusted and respected, the generous care and respect of Wisteria Haus staff and the loving friendship of Elaine Asmus, Kathleen Olson and Darlene Wellner. All made a difference in her life. She was able to remain at Wisteria Haus with the dedicated care of the hospice program.
