Edith M. Zander, 50, former librarian and teacher at Lincoln high school in this city, and more recently associated with the congressional library in Washington, D.C., died earlier today at the Two Rivers Municipal hospital.

Miss. Zander entered the hospital 10 days ago, following her return to the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Zander Sr., of 1216 - 14th street, Two Rivers, after an attack of illness in Washington.

Funeral rites will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Beduhn funeral home, Two Rivers, with Christian Science services. The body may be viewed at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Sunday.

Miss Zander was born in Two Rivers in 1896, the daughter of Arnold and Anna Scheuer Zander. She attended the public schools of the city and was graduated from Two Rivers high school with the class of 1914. Following her graduation from high school, she taught in the kindergarten at the Hamilton school, Two Rivers. She entered the University of Wisconsin and was graduated with degrees in English and music. Her first teaching positions were in high schools at White Pigeon, Mich., and Janesville, Wis.

In 1923 she came to the Lincoln high school here as an instructor in freshman English. She continued her teaching until June 1945, acting as the school's librarian during the last several years and completing a course in library work at Western Reserve university, Cleveland, O., during that time.

In September, 1945, she went to Washington D.C., to accept a position in the library of congress where she remained until ill health forced her retirement early this year. Miss Zander was a lifetime member of the National Education association, a member of the American Association of University Women and Eastern Star.

She is survived by her parents; three brothers, Gerald of Milwaukee, Dr. Arnold Jr., of Madison, president of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, AFL, and Eugene of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Mrs. George E. Bean of Pontiac, Mich., and Bernice A. Zander of Washington, D. C.
