Wilbur Maertz, 69, of 1422 S. 35th St., Manitowoc, died Tuesday at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.

Mr. Maertz was born Apr. 13, 1904, at Reedsville, son of the late John and Alvina Jantz Maertz. He attended Reedsville schools. He married Isabel Folletz Nov. 23, 1922, at Manitowoc. They resided at Manitowoc since, celebrating their golden wedding anniversary in 1972. Mr. Maertz was a painter at Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc., for 28 years, retiring in 1969. He was a member of the Boilermakers Union Local No. 443 and Manitowoc Senior Citizens.

Survivors include his wife, five sons, Mennen, of Milwaukee, Paul, of Old Saybrook, Conn. Hal, of Buffalo Grove, Ill., and Guy and Raul, of Manitowoc; six daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Doris) Sellhausen, of Milwaukee, Mrs. George (Ruth) Wood and Mrs. Eugene (Charlotte) Hroneck, of Green Bay, Mrs. Douglas (Meryl) Haag, of Sturgeon Bay, Miss W. Judy Maertz, of Belvedere, Ill., and Mrs. Edward (Leola) Schilling, of Hudson; a brother, Hubert, of Burbank, Calif., a sister, Mrs. Viola Cook, of Milwaukee; 32 grandchildren and a great grandchild. Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.

There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the United Cancer Fund.

The body will be cremated. Jens Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is in charge of arrangements.
