Stephen A. Saunders, 75, of St. Nazianz, died on April 24, 2017 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.

Cremation has occurred at All-Care Cremation Center in Manitowoc. The funeral will be held at 6 pm on Monday at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community in Newton. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. David Beaudry. Stephen will be laid to rest at a later time. The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic community from 4 pm Monday until 5:45 pm.

Stephen was born on October 22, 1941 in Appleton, son of the late Henry and Eunice Bauriain Saunders. He was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the U.S. Army from March 14, 1966 until March 13, 1968. On September 27, 1991 he married Amy Ross at Pinecrest Historial Society in rural Manitowoc. Stephen was employed with the Vollrath Co. of Sheboygan for 40 years, retiring in 2011. During his employment he was a member of the UAW Local 1472, serving as chief steward and workman's comp representative. After his retirement, he worked at Rob's Family Market in Manitowoc, delivering groceries to those in need. Stephen was a member of the American Legion Post No. 477 of St. Nazianz. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping and fishing. Stephen was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community.

Survivors include his loving wife of 25 years, Amy Saunders of St. Nazianz; two sons and one daughter-in-law, David and Darcey Saunders of Sheboygan Falls, Joseph Saunders and his fiancé, Julie Kapple of West Bend, six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Also surviving are one brother, Richard Saunders of Menasha; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mary and Rich Ross of Brillion; a sister-in-law, Becky Morrin and her sons, Marshall and Jackson of Ripon and a brother-in-law, Cory Ross of Green Bay. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Donna Oskey and Sandy Barth and a brother, Robert Saunders.
