Mr. Gene G. Head, age 93, of Cedartown, GA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, February 19, 2019. Mr. Head was born on March 21, 1925 in Rockmart, GA, a son of the late Newton G. Head and Martha Helton Head. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife in 2013, Mrs. Laura H. Johnson Head; his brothers, Walter Head, Henry Head, Johnny Head & Manly Head; his sisters, Sarah Head & Elsie Head. Gene was a veteran and proudly served with the United States Army during the Korean War. He was an avid Rabbit hunter and was known by many as one of the best trainers, especially when it came to Beagles. He was retired from the Diamond Shamrock/GEO Specialty Chemical Corporation as a supervisor in the company's Maintenance Division. Gene was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his loving family, his sons & daughter-in-law, Ronald & Ann Head and Jerry Head; his daughter & son-in-law, Vicki & Andy Brown; his grandchildren, Rhonda Peaks, Jeremy Head, Christopher Head, Josh Head, Alex Brown, Nick Brown & Tiffany Gibson; his great grandchildren, Danelle Basham, James Cromeans, Brandon Cromeans, Lily Head, Jett Head, Ryder Head, Halen Head, Cadence Gibson & Noah Gibson; a number of great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Gene Head will be conducted on Wednesday morning, February 20, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald Head and the Rev. Neal Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot in the Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday morning, February 20, 2019 from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral hour at the Litesey Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions can be made to either, Southside Baptist Church, 409 Cobb Street, Cedartown, GA 30125 or to, East View Baptist Church, 675 Syble Brannon Pkwy., Cedartown, GA 30125.
