Howard Leroy Thompson, son of James Thompson and Fannie Vanness, was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma on June 24th, 1921. Having turned 18 during the height of World War II, Howard was drafted into the United States Air Force where he served as a flight deck mechanic. Howard lived most of his life in Oklahoma, only moving to San Diego, California for a little over 10 years to live with his son, Ricky Howard Thompson and daughter-in-law, Jana Thompson, after the passing of his wife, Venita Arnold, in 1997. Howard, along with his son, daughter-in-law, and new granddaughter, Alexandra Camille Thompson, made the move back to Oklahoma in 2002. Howard survived his two brothers, James and Ralph Thompson, as well as his son Ricky who passed on February 23rd in 2013. Howard passed in Norman Oklahoma on February 19th of 2019 in the care of his daughter-in-law and granddaughter at the age of 97. A service in memory of Howard will be held on February 23rd, 2019 at 2 a.m. at Sunnylane Cemetery where he will be laid to rest beside his wife, Venita.
