Funeral services for Alton M. Baker, 63, retired vice-president of the Barnstable County National Bank of Hyannis, and a resident of Oak St., Dennis Port, were held at the West Dennis Community Church. Born in West Dennis, Mr. Baker was the husband of Frances (Barton) Baker and the son of the late Robert C. and Hattie (Barstow) Baker. He spent 46 years in the banking field, beginning his career at the Industrial Trust in Providence, then moving to the Hyannis Trust Company, and then, in 1930 he was associated with the Barnstable County National Bank at its start . He retired from his position as vice-president in 1966. Mr. Baker served for a time on the Dennis School Committee and was chosen for membership on the Massachusetts State Plan Advisory Conference of the Salvation Army, an organization in which he was active. He also was a member of the Knights of Pythias of Dennis. He is survived by his wife; two sons, David A. and Winthrop, both of South Yarmouth; two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Pelletier of South Yarmouth and Miss Frances Baker of Taunton; a brother, William H. Baker of South Yarmouth; four sisters, Mrs. Roswell Lawrell of Warwick, R.I., Mrs. Edith E. Sears of South Yarmouth, Mrs. Nathaniel H. Wixon of Dennis Port and Mrs. Richard S. Hall of South Dennis; fourteen grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services were conducted by the Rev. John D. Erb of the West Dennis Church and the Rev. Carl F. Schultz of Hyannis Federated Church. Arrangements were by the Hallett Funeral Home. Burial was in the West Dennis Cemetery.
