Longtime Seminole resident Pat Aryain passed away in Dallas after a sudden illness on February 23, 2019.
Patricia Lee Denton Aryain was born October 30, 1929 to Troy and Sadie Belle Denton in Durant, Oklahoma. She spent most of her childhood in Guthrie and Tecumseh, Oklahoma before the family moved to Seminole in March 1945 where her father was the minister of the First Baptist Church. It was there she met the love of her life, Jameil “Dink” Aryain.
She attended Texas Women’s University, majoring in childhood education. She and Jameil were married in October of 1950 and Pat began teaching kindergarten in Dallas that year while Jameil completed his degree at SMU. Pat was a lifelong learner and completed her college degree in 1971 followed by a Masters degree from Texas Tech in 1975. Teaching was her beloved vocation for over fifty years and her greatest joy was greeting any of the three generations of former students who remember her as “Ms. Pat.”
Pat and Jameil moved back to Seminole after his military service in 1952 and they remained there for the next 61 years. They loved Seminole and thought it was the best hometown in the world. They moved to Dallas to be near family in 2013 where they found wonderful new friends at Highland Springs.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Jameil, and her daughters Linda Aryain Robins and husband Scott of Dallas and Amy Aryain Carpenter and husband Dennis of Granbury as well as eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and her beloved beagle Bailey.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her son Dwight “Chip” Aryain.
A Memorial celebration of Pat’s life will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday March 16 at First Baptist Seminole.
