Dr. Bellfield Newell Carter, died at his residence "Roslin" between Erin and Cumberland City, TN. He moved to Tennesse as a young man and practiced medicine for a number of years in Dickson and other counties. He studied medicine with Dr. John Hartwell Marable, I., of Montgomery County, TN. He later married Dr. Marable's daughter, Sallie Ann Marable on March 11, 1830. At one time, Dr. Carter was engaged in the iron business and ran the Webster Furnace. He served a term in the Tennessee State Legislature and made a very able and conservative member. He was a very intelligent man, full of racy humor and possessed a very happy faculty of relating anecdotes. Cause of death: Paralysis.
