From the obit of the Clarksville Jeffersonian Newspaper, July 9, 1856, p.2, col 7: Died - at the residence of her mother, in Montgomery County., Tenn on the 20th of June, 1856; Cora T., daughter of the late Dr. John H. Marable, and wife of Thos Y. Dixon. Aged 25 years, 11 months, and 11 days. "Death loves a shining mark," and ere time's remorseless hand snatched from us as fair as a flower as ever bloomed on earth; but only to be transplanted to that sun-bright clime and here his blighting touch is felt no more, where sighs and tears are never known, and bliss eternal reigns. Young, gentle, and affectionate, she was beloved by all who knew her, and left many warm friends to mourn her untimely end. "Her thoughts did heavenward roam till, like links of gold, they drew her up to her bright home within the savior's fold." Cora T. Dixon was a devoted wife, affectionate daughter and sister, and a kind friend. May God in His mercy bind up their broken hearts and enable the bereaved husband and aged mother to bear their great loss with Christian fortitude and resignation. She was precious to their souls, dear as life itself could be, knew that in that bitter world, sorrow she shall never see. Was she lovely? Fairer far is her angel beauty now. Oh! What perfect blessedness beameth on her brow. Then mourn no more, for God is just, offend him not by murmuring sighs, Oh! Put in Him your holy trust and ye shall meet beyond the skies. The funeral was preached by Rev. Jordan Moor, on sunday, 22d June - Isaiah, 38 chap., 1st verse. Nashville Union and Christian Advocate please copy. (End of obit). Cora T.C. Doxon is buried in the John Marable Cemetery on McFall Road in Montgomery County, Tn. This was on the family estate of her father Dr. John Hartwell Marable, 1st and was named "Escape."
