Goodlettsville - A Tribute to Eleanor Allen Bradley written by her loving husband of 66 years, Harold Bradley, prior to his death.
Eleanor Bradley, died peacefully in her sleep on February 18, 2019. She was a long-time member of Madison Church of Christ.
In addition to her husband, Eleanor was proceeded in death by her parents, Hope Seitz Allen and Bessie Hobbs Allen, her brothers William Allen, Wesley Allen, Harvey (Mac) Allen, and Lloyd Allen.
She is survived by her daughters, Beverly Bradley, and Bari Brooks; son-in-law Barry Brooks; grandchildren, Bethany Hill and Jason Reid Brooks; sisters, Mary Allen Davis, and Claire Allen (Hilliard) Hester.
Eleanor graduated from Isaac Litton High School where she was a cheerleader. She worked as a fashion model locally for many years. She was a true Southern Belle, known for her athleticism, charm, and beauty, and was the ultimate hostess when entertaining friends and family. Eleanor won 5 National Waterski titles and the Music City Tennis Invitational Tournament with her doubles partner, the late Bill Wade. She was inducted into the Tennessee Waterski Association Hall of Fame in 2000. She was a member of the Nashville Ski Bees, and the the Tennessee Waterski Association Hall of Fame in 2000. She was a member of the Nashville Ski Bees, and the Tennessean Waterski Club. Eleanor was an avid sports fan, supporting the Nashville Predators, the Tennessee Titans, and Vanderbilt football and baseball. She was also a forced to be reckoned with at the card table.
Throughout her lifetime Eleanor was active in many organizations, serving on the Board of Directors of Cheekwood Botanical Gardens, as Chairman of the Trees of Christmas, on the Nashville Symphony Guild, and on the Ladies' Committee of the Swan Ball. Eleanor performed in musicals as a member of the New Century Club. She was a Co-Founder of the Music City Tennis Invitational benefiting Vanderbilt Children's Hospital, and delivered Meals on Wheels for Madison Church of Christ.
Harold considered Eleanor as the wind beneath his wings, and wished her to "Sleep Sweetly, Darling".
