Gene Austin 90, of Calhoun, Kentucky went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Riverside Care and Rehabilitation Center in Calhoun. Alfred Eugene Austin was born February 20, 1929 in the Poplar Grove Community of McLean County to the late Alfred P. and Bessie Ross Austin, was married to the former Lottie Belle Kassinger in 1972 and was better known as “Gene” to both his family and friends. Gene graduated from Calhoun High School in 1947, lettering in both baseball and basketball. He worked for multiple Ford Dealerships as Parts & Service Manager for 43 years, retired from B.F. Evans Ford in 1993 and was a member of Calhoun United Methodist Church. Gene was an avid U.K. Basketball and New York Yankees Baseball fan and enjoyed racing his beloved “427 Galaxy” with his best friend, Joe Butterworth, rest in peace “FE” Gene. In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his step father, Walter Boatwright.

Burial will be at a later date in Calhoun Cemetery.
