Jean Bowen, 89, formerly of North Platte, died Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at Kimball County Manor.

Jean was born in Gothenburg on August 20, 1929, to John and Avis Earll. She grew up and attended school in Gothenburg then started cooking at restaurants in the area and in North Platte.

On July 24, 1959, Jean married Eugene Bowen in North Platte and they lived in various Nebraska towns before settling in North Platte. By 2000 they moved to Sidney to be closer to family then Eugene passed away four years later.

Jean was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary and the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints. She enjoyed doing puzzle books and going to meetings at the Eagles. She will be remembered as a loving and caring person who had a big heart for her grandkids and great-grandkids.

Along with her husband, Eugene, Jean was preceded in death by her daughter, Martha Kimball; sons, William and Roger Bowen; daughter-in-law, Mary Bowen; her parents, John and Avis Earll; sisters, Hazel Earll, Lena Zogg and Irene McDermitt; and brother, Bob Earll.

Jean is survived by her sons, Leo Bowen, Sr., of Sidney, Arvine Bowen, and the son she raised, Eldon (Lydia) Adcock, both of Colorado Springs, Colorado; stepdaughter, Jerri Chamberlain, of Woodland, California; 25 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and many other family members.
