Michael F. Kazar Sr., 72, of 2205 Adams St., Two Rivers, father of Michael Kazar, associate professor art and art education at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and the University of Wisconsin Center at Manitowoc, died Friday evening at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital where he had been a patient for a week.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Monday at Klein and Stangel Inc., Funeral Home, Two Rivers, and at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Rev. James Stamborski officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Mr. Kazar was born Feb. 24, 1896, at Soboluni, Poland, a son of the late Frank and Anna Zybort Kazar. When he was 17 he immigrated to this country and first resided at Ansonia, Conn. where he married the former Anna Lalko in 1914.
In 1916 the family moved to Two Rivers where Mr. Kazar had been an employe of Plant No. 1 of Mirro Aluminum Co. for 43 years up to his retirement in 1962. The couple observed its 50th wedding anniversary in 1966.
Mr. Kazar was long active in the affairs of Sacred Heart Church, serving for many years as a trustee and continuing to serve on its Board of Consultors.
He also was a member of Sacred Heart Holy Name Society and of the 25-year Club of the Mirro firm.
Surviving are his wife; another son, Stanley F. of Cedarburg, Wis.; two sisters, and a brother in Poland; six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday where the Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.
