Son of Thomas L. Matthew "Tom" Simmons and Mary Palestine "Tine" (Wheeler) Simmons.

Brother of William Pinkney "Bill" Simmons, Samuel LaFayette "Sam L." Simmons, Flaura B. (Simmons) [Dandridge] Mabee, Sarah Jane (Simmons) Walling, John Matthew "Johnie" Simmons, Dora Etta "Etta" (Simmons) Smith, and Mayme Ruth (Simmons) [Curtis] [Johnson] Schaefer.

Charlie never married and had no children to my knowledge.


Charlie served in the U.S. Army during World War I: Company 19th Camp Gordon, Replacement Draft; Company "K", 22nd Infantry. His decorations and awards: World War I Victory Metal; World War I Victory Button.

He died on board a U.S. Navy ship in the Atlantic Ocean while en route to France during World War I. His death was due to pneumonia. Millions of people worldwide died during 1918 of "The Great Flu Epidemic".


Edward Charles "Charlie" Simmons was my granduncle through the Simmons family.
