SPARTA – Everett "Carl" Beattie, 88, of Sparta, passed away Monday, March 4, 2019 at Sparta Community Hospital in Sparta, Illinois. He was born in Sparta, on July 11, 1930, to Everett and Mae Benjamin Beattie, and married Iva Jean Stork on August 17, 1957 at St. Pius, Walsh, IL.
Carl was a retired Postman from the Sparta Post Office, was a US Air Force veteran having served during the Korean Conflict (1951 - 1955). Carl was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Sparta; Knights of Columbus Our Lady of Lourdes Council #6577, Sparta; and American Legion Post #396, Sparta. He loved watching Chicago Bears Football, St. Louis Cardinals and Illini Sports - he never missed a sporting event!
Carl is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters, eleven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, sisters and brothers-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Mae Beattie; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Harold and Elizabeth Stork; sister, Vera and Mel McDonald and granddaughter Ashley Campbell.
