She passed away at home, in Tacoma, on May 11, 2018 with her beloved Muttley and family by her side. She was 82 years old. G.G. graduated from Garfield High School in Seattle and was a member of the Garfield Golden Grads.
She was a 60 year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, going through the officer chairs of the Auxiliary and became Madam President for the 1971-1972 term. She was the permanent Mother of the Auxiliary at the time of her death. In her early years, she was very active in the
drill and ritual teams. It is through the Eagles that she met her husband of 58 years, Maurice.
G.G. is survived by her husband and five children: Janet Hansen, Nancy Pate, Tina Shearer, Susan (Brent) Hirning, and Mark (Molly) Perry. She leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren as well as one brother, Albert (Kris) Guist and sister, Marlene (Dan) Landreth. She was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tacoma Eagles #3 Auxiliary to be split between the Heart and Diabetes Associations. We also would like to thank Hospice for helping to keep her comfortable in her final days.
