BONNEAU BEACH (formerly Goose Creek) SC -- Petty Officer First Class John Charles Snodgrass passed the torch to his eldest son the morning of 3 March 2019, as he bid this world good bye and entered Heaven's Gate. He was born on 6 October 1946 four minutes before his twin to Charles Abraham and Nathalie Yvonne (Clark) Snodgrass in Columbus, Ohio.
After an extensive career in both the Navy and Air Force, he retired from the US Navy in 1992, physically and completed his 30 years in 1995, retiring as a Data Processor/Computer Fraud Investigator at Charleston Naval Base, SC.
John was a firm believer in the Word of the Lord and looked forward to going to meet Jesus, as he put it. He enjoyed Face Book and making connection with the many, many Snodgrass' out there, doing a one-name study in genealogy of the Snodgrass Clan.
He was a member of Victory Christian Church in Goose Creek, a Lifetime member of the American Legion at Large, and NRA. He loved his God first, then family and friends; also enjoyed traveling and telling sea stories.
He will be sorely missed by his family, wife L. Sue (Engelhardt) Snodgrass of the home; sons, Bryan Christopher, David Eugene, and Jon Charles "JC" all of Columbus, OH; and daughter, Jessica Brooke of the home; granddaughters Rikki (Josh) Foster, Virginia Beach, VA; Taylor Simcoe, Columbus, OH; and Chloe Ava of the home and three great-grands, Liam, Mason and Lily Foster. Also, his twin brother, Henry Clark (Andrea) Snodgrass of Columbus, OH; nieces, Jackie (Danny) Wehmeyer, Fort Knox, KY, Carrie Lynn Snodgrass, Fort Leonard Wood, MO and Dorothy Snodgrass, KY and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews as well as former wife, Elaine Freeman and former sister-in-law, Barbara Snodgrass and of course his faithful pooch, Layla.
Proceeding John in death, were his parents, grandson Cory Michael Petit and daughter-in-law Karen (Aring) Snodgrass.
