Was Tampa Merchant for More Than 30 Years
Henry Brash, veteran retired merchant of Tampa, died at his home, Twenty-third avenue, at 8:30 o'clock this morning. He had been in ill health for some time. Mr. Brash was born in Grauderez, Germany, March 18, 1857. He came to the United States in September, 1870, and located at Marianna, Fla., where he lived until 1884. He served as mayor of Marianna for three terms. Mr. Brash came to Tampa in December, 1894, and engaged in the mercantile business until his failing health forced him to retire in 1925. Since that time he has lived quietly at his home here. For many years, his clothing store was located at Polk and Franklin streets. He was married in 1888 in Mobile, Ala., to Miss Sarah Zelnicker, who survives him. Mrs. Brash is well known in Tampa for her active club work. Besides the widow, Mr. Brash is survived by five children, Alma, Florence, Isaac, Ruth and Victor, all of Tampa. He was a member of Hillsborough lodge No. 25, F.& A. M.; Scottish Rite consistory and Egypt temple of the Shrine, and was affiliated with Rodeph Shalom temple.
