After graduating from San Diego High School, Arline moved to San Francisco, California where she lived for five years before moving to Berkeley CA. It was in the East Bay area where she met and married her husband Charlie Thompson. To this union one son was born, Santel Anthony Thompson.
Before the 1989 earthquake, Arline attended St. Francis De Sales Church in Oakland where she actively worked as an Acolyte and Minister of Communion. She then relocated to Saint Ambrose Catholic Church.
A lover of games, she played pinochle every day at the South Berkeley Senior Center, the highlight of her day. She also enjoyed travelling with her sisters, mother and various friends throughout the world.
Arline's strong work ethic kept her employed for over 30 years with various companies throughout the Bay area, but her last and by far favorite company was Kellogg's from which she retired. A highlight of her Retirement Ceremony was being honored for never being late or missing a day of work. She epitomized a core business belief of Mr. W.K. Kellogg himself, "business success is measured in people not profit."
Arline was preceded in death by her husband Charlie Thompson, mother Beulah (Vaughn) Brown, father James E. Brown Sr., both sisters Edress Washington and Juanita Collier, and a daughter in-law Rhonda Thompson. She is survived by her son Santel Thompson, grandson Desmond Michael Thompson, and both brothers, Gaylord Brown (Velma) of San Diego, CA, James E. Brown Jr. (Genise) of East Point, Georgia. A large extended family and circle of friends mourn her passing.
