Bill, the son of the late Dr. Henry W. Blalock Sr. and Minnie Jane Blalock was born in Leesville, LA in 1926. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Ann Doolittle, and Nancy Day.
He graduated from Blair High School in Silver Spring MD and attended the University of Maryland majoring in engineering before starting his bicycle and motorcycle business in Montgomery County Maryland in1947. He moved his business to Warrenton Virginia in 1984.
Bill and his wife of nearly 60 years, the former Barbara Wayland of Rappahannock County, have four children, Pamela (Todd) Benson of Severna Park, Maryland, Richard (Coleen) Blalock of Warrenton, Virginia, Gordon (Julia) Blalock of Ellicott City, Maryland and Martha (Chris Delucchi) Blalock of Washington, DC; two brothers, John B. Blalock of Maryland and J. Thomas Blalock of Florida; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
While living in Maryland, Bill volunteered as Vice President of the Wheaton Chamber of Commerce and served his church First Baptist Church of Silver Spring as a Deacon, Trustee and a Training Union leader of the youth group. In Virginia he served Warrenton Baptist Church as a Treasurer and on the Property and Space Committee.
Bill competed in motorcycle hill climbs and Enduro races, was an avid photographer, loved fishing, enjoyed competing in many 10K races, restored antique motorcycles and was an accomplished woodworker.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, Sept. 17, from 11:00 AM until the funeral service begins at 12:00 Noon at Warrenton Baptist Church. Rev. Jay Lawson will officiate. A reception will follow the service and then the interment will be at St. Paul's Cemetery, Woodville, VA.
