Betty June Hughes Weikle, 93, went home to be with the Lord on March 7, 2019 after a long illness. She was born on June 5, 1925, a daughter of the late Basil and Connie Sarrett Hughes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford “Buddy” Weikle; brother, Basil Hughes, Jr., her sister, Jewell Dean Hughes Stine and her niece, Connie Hughes Wickline. She is survived by her son, Eddie Weikle and wife Angie; two granddaughters, Megan Elizabeth and Sydney Lea Weikle; two nieces, Betty Ann Stine Williams, and Cindy Lou Stine Burdette; a nephew, David Hughes and a host of family and friends. She was a retired school teacher of Boone County Schools (1988) with 34 years of service as an English teacher spent entirely at Whitesville Jr. High School. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Whitesville where she also joyfully devoted her time to the church’s choir. She graduated from Sherman High School, a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Morris Harvey College. She also received a master’s degree from Marshall University. Her family would like to thank a very special caregiver, Becky England, the staff at Marmet Center and the Hubbard Hospice House. A Celebration of Betty’s life will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2019 at the First Baptist Church of Whitesville, in Whitesville, WV. Dennis Dye and Randy Saunders will be officiating the service. Visitation service will start at 11:00 am and the funeral will begin at 1:00 pm.
