Arnold J. Noyes, 83, of Noyes Road, died Thursday, April 5, 2007, at his home with his family by his side.

He was born July 31, 1923, in Saxtons River, the son of Melvin and Mary (Knowlton) Noyes.

Mr. Noyes worked for many years at Sam's Gulf in Bellows Falls, drove school bus and most recently worked at Jancewicz and Sons.

His real passion was farming. He loved his Oliver tractor and kept it running long after others would have given up on it. He enjoyed feeding the birds, playing cribbage, crossword puzzles and telling a good story. His favorite thing in recent years was the weekly family cookouts on Sunday evenings throughout the summer.

On April 16, 1944, he married Ella Carroll (Chadwick) Noyes who died in 1997.

He is survived by son Richard Noyes and his wife Dorothy of Charlestown, N.H., son John Noyes and his wife Elaine, a daughter, Ellen Allman and her husband Robert; a son, David Noyes and his wife Laurie, all of Bellows Falls; a daughter, Nancy Tenney and her husband Ed of Charlestown, a daughter, Linda Noyes of Bellows Falls; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Besides his wife, he was predeceased by three siblings, Charlotte McLeod, Anna Pelton and Ralph Noyes; and an infant son, Peter.
