Lorian J. Shamrock, age 85, of 1321 Green St., Manitowoc, died Monday, January 15, 2001, at St. Mary's Home, Manitowoc. Funeral Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, January 19, 2001, at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and 10 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Camillus Janas O.F.M. with entombment at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc. Graveside Military Rites will be accorded by VFW Otto Oas Post #659.
Lorian was born December 31, 1915, in Fond du Lac, son of the late Francis and Anna Zalewski Shamrock. He was a graduate of Fond du Lac Senior High School, class of 1934. Lorian was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II overseas in the European, African and Middle Eastern Theatres including North Africa, England, Sicily, Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes and Rhineland.
On June 3, 1947, he married the former Faye Keyes at St. Agnes Chapel, Fond du Lac, Lorian was a bartender at the Supper Club for 19 years as well as owner of the Modern Paint Store in Manitowoc from 1950 to 1961. Lorian is a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church where he was an usher and a member of the Athletic Association. He was an avid bowler, enjoyed woodworking, playing cards and was a loyal fan of the Packers, Brewers and badgers.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Shamrock, Manitowoc; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Jacqueline Shamrock, Greenleaf; three daughters and sons-in-law, Lori and Russell Krahn, Cascade, Wis., Kathleen and Peter Seile, Manitowoc, Suzanne and Thomas Lee, Greendale, Wis.; eight grandchildren, Suzanne, Alexander and David Krahn, Jennifer and Matthew Seiler, Patrick and Kristen Lee, Grace Shamrock; one brother, Elmer Shamrock, Klamath Falls, Oregon; one sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and John Heck, Concord, Calif.; one sister-in-law Edna Smith, Fond du Lac. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Lorian was also preceded in death by an infant son; three brothers, Edward, Frank, Melvin; two sisters, Lillian and Helen; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 4-8 p.m. Thursday where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. by Sister Renee Delvaux.
