Thomas D. Hoffman Sr., age 87, of Abbotsford, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at his home under the tender care of Hope Hospice.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Saint Bernard’s Catholic Church in Abbotsford. Father Tim Oudenhoven will officiate. Burial to be held at Abbotsford Public Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted at the cemetery. Family and friends are welcome from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the church.

Tom was born on December 17, 1931, the son of George and Dorcia (Rusk) Hoffman in Medford. He attended Abbotsford Schools. Tom worked for Hoffman and Son’s Silo Construction Company before entering the US Army in September 1951 to June 1953, serving during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge Tom worked as a meat cutter in Green Bay and Milwaukee before working at Packaging Corporation of America in Colby for 37 plus years retiring in 1995.

Tom was united in marriage to Joyce R. Ludwig on February 12, 1954 at Saint Bernard’s Catholic Church in Abbotsford.

Tom was a member of Saint Bernard’s Catholic Church and was an active member of Colby VFW Post #2227. Tom enjoyed family, fishing, hunting coon, camping, auctions and casino trips.

Tom is survived by his wife, Joyce of Abbotsford; his children, Thomas (Mildred) Hoffman Jr. of Medford, Vicky (Don) Obenhoffer of Medford, Debra Wysocki of Wausau and Kirk (Julie) Hoffman of Marion ; 11 grandchildren: Jeremy (Kori) Hoffman of Charlotte, NC, Jessica (Jess) Haenel of Medford, Steven (Kimberly) Hoffman of Suamico, Stephanie Hoffman of Stanley, Kim Obenhoffer of Medford, Lance Obenhoffer of Medford, Anthony Wysocki of Wausau, Nicole Wysocki of Willington, NC, Crystal (Matthew) Wienert of Appleton, Heather (Joel) Bennett of Hortonville and Faith Hoffman of Appleton; 17 great-grandchildren, Ethan, Olive and Hazel Hoffman of Charlotte, NC, William, Tara and Kylie Hoffman of Suamico, Logan Bowlin of Stanley-Boyd, Sierra Haizel of Medford, Emy Nelson of Osseo, Courtney and Matthew Jr. Weinert of Appleton, Willow, Jett and Roczen Bennett of Hortonville, Jayden Hoffman of Appleton and Syncere and Syerenity Beatty of Appleton. Tom is further survived by 2 brothers; Ted (Pat) Hoffman and Kurt (Candy) Hoffman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Matthew Wysocki, brothers and sisters, Maxine Feind, Richard Hoffman, Bernard “Barney” Hoffman, Lynette Perry and William Hoffman and a son-in-law; Steven Wysocki.
