William Henry Pitts, 75, died Saturday morning after a short illness at his residence at 801 North Maney Ave.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Woodfin Memorial chapel.

The Rev. Steve Cawthon will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

A native of Cannon county, Mr. Pitts was a member of the Baptist Church.

He is survived by two sons, Wiley C. Pitts of Detroit, Mich., and Floyd Pitts of Murfreesboro; a stepson, Jesse J. Davenport of Nashville; two daughters, Mrs. James Pitts Sr. of Murfreesboro and Mrs. Ruby Fowler of Nashville; four brothers, Clarence Pitts, Lee Pitts, Presley Pitts and George Pitts, all of Murfreesboro; a sister, Mrs. Bennie Travis of Murfreesboro, 16 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren.
