Darlene Vines Rainwater, age 70, of Indian Springs Village, AL, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2019.

Darlene was born August 5, 1948 in Fairfield, Alabama to Jimmy E. Dixon and Dorothy Nell (Leith) Dixon.

Darlene is survived by her loving husband, James Simpson Rainwater; her brothers Jimmy E. Dixon Jr. (Pat) and Jeff L. Dixon; step-children, grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in passing by her late husband Jerry Vines and her parents.

Darlene fulfilled her dream of being an executive secretary and worked for Bell South Communications for 30 years prior to her retirement. She loved the Lord and her church, Meadow Brook Baptist, where she taught Sunday and Vacation Bible school for many years. Darlene was a woman of great faith and was a loving, lifelong friend to many. She was vivacious and energetic, always keeping busy and serving her community of Indian Springs Village. She also enjoyed playing the piano, playing for her church in early life. Darlene enjoyed visiting the beach and had a special place in her heart for stray cats. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.

A visitation for Darlene will be held Wednesday, March 13, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, Alabama 35124. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM. Burial at Southern Heritage Cemetery.
