Claribel E. Schaus, 98, a resident of St. Mary's Home, Manitowoc, died Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 25, 2005, at St. Mary's Home.

Claribel was born July 29, 1907, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Fred and Emma Metzger Radandt. She was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, Class of 1925. On June 21, 1928, she married Roland O. Schaus at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death Feb. 22, 1981. Claribel was a volunteer at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc, for 40 years. Claribel was instrumental in the founding of Wm. Schaus & Son, Manitowoc, with her late husband, Roland. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Manitowoc. She was also a past member of the (St. Therese Society of St. Andrew Catholic Church), and was a member of the Manitowoc Senior Center and the United Commercial Travelers Association where she served as a past officer and chaplain.

Survivors include three sons and a daughter-in-law, Allen Schaus, Manitowoc; Kenneth Schaus, Deltona, Fla.; James and Polly Schaus, Manitowoc; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Terry Posey, Green Bay; 15 grandchildren, Tom (JoAnn) Schaus, Mike (Mary) Schaus, Connie Schaus, Jerry (Kathy) Schaus, Bill Schaus, Susanna-Maria Schaus, Greg (Julie) Schaus, Ann (Dr. Chris) Hanson, Sandy (Steve) Hoyt, Joe (Vicki) Schaus, Vickie Seehaefer, Lisa Schaus, Kelly (Kory) Deering, Jeff Posey, Jennifer Posey; 25 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson. Also surviving is a sister and brother-in-law, LaVerne and Jerry Gutman, St. Nazianz; a brother, Harold Radandt, Manitowoc; and two sisters-in-law, Agnes Radandt and Ollie Schaus, both of Manitowoc; and a dear friend, Joan Krey. She was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Ruth Schaus; a sister, Leona Heinz; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred Radandt, George and Marcella Radandt and Mary Radandt. Five brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law through marriage also preceded her in death, Bob and Bernice Schaus, Paul and Gladys Schaus, George and Eleanor Schaus, Bill Schaus, Art and Janet Schaus; and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law through marriage, Ruth and Bill Schmitz.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 31, 2005, at The Pfeffer Funeral Home and 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi, Grand Avenue Site, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Tom Wojciechowski O.F.M. with entombment at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc.

The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, 2005, where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. led by Sister Renee Delvaux. Friends may also call Monday morning at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m.

A very special thank you to Dr. Mark Herring and all of her caregivers at St.Mary's Home. Mom was like an energizer bunny who enjoyed life to its fullest. She was in the same card club for 68 years, loved to travel and was a loving mom, grandma and friend to many. We are proud to celebrate her life.
