Dorothy Louise (Cooper) Monroney, 97, of Springfield, Ill., passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2019, in Memorial Hospital at Springfield. She was born June 19, 1921, at Bullskin, Wabash Twp., Clark County, Ill., the daughter of Fred and Tessie Setzer Cooper.

Dorothy was a graduate of Marshall High School and married Harold W. Monroney on May 3, 1952, at Marshall.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Mary Kay Monroney Benedict; brothers, Wayne, Phil and Larry Cooper; and sisters-in-law, Edith and Janet Cooper.

She is survived by a sister-in-law, Terry Cooper of Martinsville; and four nephews, four nieces, several great-nephews and nieces, great-great-nephews and nieces, and her network of neighbors and friends.

Dorothy was a homemaker; enjoyed collecting angels, collectible plates and bells; and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. She and her husband were supporters of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Paris Chapter No. l7 and the First Christian Church of Paris.

Services in honor of her life will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Pearce Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Irwin officiating. Burial will be in the Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will be after 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
