Henry F. Koeppen, 97, formerly of rural Kiel, died Friday, August 30, 1991, at Calumet Homestead, New Holstein, where he had been a resident for the past three years.

He was born January 24, 1894, in Kiel, son of the late Fred Sr. and Amelia Quante Koeppen. On November 8, 1926 he married Adeline Quante Lutzke. She preceded him in death in September 1965. On May 14, 1966 he married Lena Lutzke Prochnow at St. James United Church of Christ, in Spring Valley. She preceded him in death on May 10, 1991.
He was a carpenter most of his life. He also owned and operated a dairy/mink farm in the town of Meeme, until his retirement in 1966. Henry served in the Army during World War I and was a member of the American Legion Post 28 for over 60 years. He was also a life-long member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Louis Corners and a member of the men's club.

He is survived by one son, Melvin (Georgene) Lutzke, of St. Nazianz; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one step-son, William (Dorothy) Prochnow, of San Marcus, Calif.; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Lorraine (Fred) Reese, of Brillion; Mrs. Audry (Leonard) Tysver of New London; Mavis Gutschow of Kiel and Penny Prochnow of Honolulu, Hawaii; 16 step grandchildren; 27 step great grandchildren; five step great great grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Koeppen of Mesa, Ariz., and Alvina Koeppen of St. Nazianz. He was preceded in death by his two wives, his parents, three brothers, one sister, two grandchildren and three step sons-in-law.
Funeral services will be at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Louis Corners, with the Rev. James Bartz, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
