Howard Allen (Boots) Whitsitt, Jr. went to be with his Savior on March 5, 2016 at the age of 91. Boots was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on September 5, 1924, to Howard Allen Whitsitt, Sr. and Julie Morson Whitsitt.

Soon after his birth the family moved to Memphis, Tennessee. After graduating from Central High School he enlisted in the Air Force. Upon graduation from navigation school with the rank of Second Lieutenant, he was sent to Victorville, California, where he served for three years as an instructor in radar navigation and bombing for the B24 aircraft. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. The first of many engineers to be hired by Tennessee Valley Electric Supply Company, he began a forty seven year career starting in sales, and serving his last twenty years as President.

Not accustomed to being idle, soon after retiring he began construction of a home at Horseshoe Lake that he designed and contracted himself. The family enjoyed many weekends boating, fishing, and relaxing on the lake. Boots also enjoyed golf, hunting, and he could play a wicked game of badminton. His favorite hang-out was his workshop. No project exceeded his ability to build or fix.

His children, grandchildren, and later his great grand children were the joy of his life. As to his family, you could sum up his attitude quite simply as anything-for anyone-anytime.

Boots was a member of Lindenwood Christian Church for over sixty years. He was a Life Deacon and member of the Friendship Sunday School Class.

Mr. Whitsitt was preceded in death by his brother John C. Whitsitt, and sisters Julie Whitsitt Stepp and Bettye Whitsitt Harrison. He leaves his loving wife of 64 years , Ann Turner Whitsitt, a daughter Elizabeth Whitsitt McEwan (Dan), and two sons H. Allen Whitsitt III (Beth), and Robert E. Whitsitt (Laura). He leaves eight grandchildren: Alison Whitsitt Hinson (Gary), Howard Allen (Hal) Whitsitt IV, Robert E. Whitsitt Jr., Camille Whitsitt Bielling (Patrick), Hannah Whitsitt Knight (Will), D. Hastings McEwan Jr., William T. McEwan, and Luke W. McEwan. He leaves great grandchildren Elizabeth and Nell Hinson, and Ruby Knight. He is survived by a brother George C. Whitsitt (Wanda) of Memphis, Tennessee, and a sister, Margaret W. Tanner (Ray) of Jackson, Tennessee.

The family would like to extend its most sincere appreciation to his faithful and loving caregiver, April Burks, to the caring staff of the Allen Morgan Health Center, and to Crossroads Hospice.
