H.G. passed away at his home on March 19, 2019, surrounded by his family.

H.G. was born to Holice Guy Wactor Sr. and Effie Glaze Wactor on December 7, 1938 in Terry, Louisiana. He graduated from Kilbourne High School in 1956 and Northeast Louisiana University in 1961. H.G. married the love of his life, Glorie Jane Allen on August 9, 1959. In 1962, H.G. and Jane moved to Terry, Louisiana, where they would raise their three children: BeLynda Jane Wactor Martin, Sheri Renea Wactor Pippin, and Holice Guy Wactor, III.

H.G. would farm cattle, cotton, soybeans, sweet potatoes, and wheat for twenty-four years, owned and operated Chickasaw Grocery for three years, and sold insurance for thirty-three years. H.G. had a herd of cattle up until 2002, but this was more of a love and hobby rather than a job. His insurance business was not solely a source of income. He tirelessly tried to serve others even when it was not beneficial to him; he always had the interest of his clients at heart.

H.G. had a true servant’s heart. He tried to live out his Christian faith through serving other people. He served his community in various ways. He served on the ambulance board, the hospital board, the police jury, the school board, and was a Dixie Youth coach for many years. H.G. served his church family. He was a Sunday school teacher for sixty-two years. He taught his Sunday school lesson faithfully up until two weeks before his death. He has served as a deacon for over fifty years at First Baptist Church of Kilbourne, First Baptist Church of Delhi, and First Baptist Church of Oak Grove. He continued to find ways to serve his community even as he aged. Later in life he served through ministering to those in nursing homes. He made it a priority to visit the nursing homes, as well as teach the Sunday school lesson at the nursing home, before teaching his regular Sunday school lesson. H.G. was a devoted Christian man, and while his words may have been few he believed in service to our Lord and he served our Lord by serving his community and church. He left a legacy of honor, dignity, service and love to be cherished and exemplified by his family.

Aside from having a servant’s heart H.G. had a variety of friends and hobbies. H.G. loved to bird hunt, shoot skeet, feed the birds, mow the yard, and later in life help Jane in the flower beds. He loved to play anything with a ball. He enjoyed playing softball and golf as an adult. After he finished playing, H.G. got great joy out of watching his kids, grandkids, and even great grandkids play any kind of sports. H.G. attended every sporting event that his kids participated in that he possibly could. He even coached a few grandsons in Dixie Youth baseball. He was a prominent fixture in a lawn chair or on a bleacher at many athletic events. He enjoyed athletics, but more than that he was devoted to his family. He taught them how to love, persevere, enjoy victory, and be humble in losses all by his mere presence at their ballgames. He has been there from tball to state championships; if they were participating he was present.

H.G. is survived by his wife of 59 years, Glorie Jane Allen Wactor; daughter and son in law Belynda Wactor Martin and Wayne Martin; daughter and son in law Sheri Wactor Pippin and Ronald Pippin; son and daughter in law Guy and Kristin Wactor; granddaughter Emily Bradley and husband Josh; granddaughter Laura Beth Perkins and husband Russ; grandson Ethan Pippin and wife Dana; granddaughter Julie McNutt and husband Thomas; grandson Jacob Pippin and wife Ashley; granddaughter Katie Wactor; grandson Cole Pippin; granddaughter Emma Wallace and husband Landon; granddaughter Callie Wactor; granddaughter Brett Morgan; grandson Will Wactor; grandson Axel Z Morgan and 6 great grandchildren: Jackson, Caroline and Jim Bradley; Lillie and Duke Perkins; and Ainslee Pippin; sister Joyce Chop; sister Melba Hammack and husband Sherrell; brother in law Otto Allen and wife Mary Frances Horton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
