Funeral Services for Elsie Clawson, 95, of Ramah, New Mexico will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 10:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Ramah, New Mexico. Burial will follow at the Ramah Community Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2019 from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ramah, New Mexico.
Elsie Bloomfield Clawson was born April 4, 1923 in Ramah, New Mexico. She passed away, March 18, 2019 in Ramah, New Mexico.
She was the fifth child and third daughter born to Rachel Burk and Richard Henry Bloomfield. Elsie's childhood was spent in Ramah with her family.
Elsie attended school in Ramah and finished High School while living in St. Johns, Arizona. She completed 4 years of Seminary in 1 year.
It was in Ramah where she met Lawrence Daryl Clawson; they were married October 8, 1942 in the Mesa Arizona Temple. After one week of marriage Daryl entered the military. Ramah, New Mexico was then their home until 1957 when they moved to Blue Water, New Mexico and then back to Ramah in 1965. To their union 8 children were born. In 1953 her oldest daughter, Marilyn, passed away.
After her children were raised, Elsie and Daryl served a Mission in Australia for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They also served as a Temple workers in the Albuquerque Temple for several years, which she enjoyed and valued very much.
Elsie was accomplished in quilting, embroidery, raising flowers, and canning fruit and vegetables. Her awesome homemade pies, cinnamon rolls and bread will be missed by her family and friends.
Elsie spent her life helping and serving others. "Charity Never Faileth", was undoubtedly her motto, and she taught her children the same. She served her Church in many capacities.
Elsie leaves her husband Daryl and remaining 7 children: Michael (Shaaron), DeeAnn Lewis, Glenda, Eldon (Shirley), David (GayLynn), Virgil (Joyce) and Laureen Kimberling (Bill). She was also blessed with 36 grandchildren, 76 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren, all of whom she loved so much.
Elsie was preceded in death by a daughter: Marilyn Clawson; her parents: Rachel Burk and Richard Henry Bloomfield; brothers: Hubert Henry Bloomfield, George William Bloomfield, Melvin Rudy Bloomfield, and Eldred Bloomfield; sisters: Jennie Lamb and Elda Rencher; step-brothers: Theodore Henry Bloomfield, John Thomas Bloomfield, and Charles Herbert Bloomfield; and step-sisters: Cora Hawkins, Nellie Wilkins, Clara Laney, and Erma Laney.
