Nancy started her career working for the Bell Telephone Company as a switchboard operator in Sterling after finishing high school. She used the skills she learned on the switchboard and worked in Denver, and also in Las Vegas, Nevada. She also worked for a trucking company in Canada, and spent time in New Mexico. In Canada, she enjoyed volunteering for the Red Cross delivering supplies. While in Las Vegas, she began working at a veterinary clinic, assisting the Vet and doing dog grooming. She eventually had her own grooming business and pet shop. Upon her return to Sterling she was a dog groomer at Dr. Mark Cochran’s Sterling Animal Clinic.

She was a member of the First Christian Church. She was president of the Shetland Sheepdog Club of Southern Nevada in 1986-1987. Nancy was also a long-time, active member of the Vegas Valley Dog Obedience Club (V.V.D.O.C.). Nancy loved dogs, horses, and most all animals. She was an excellent dog trainer and won awards while showing dogs in dog shows and agility contests. She used her expertise in training to help others with their dogs in classes that she taught.

Nancy also loved traveling, she loved driving her car and riding her motorcycles. During one of her most recent travels, she visited Alaska and went salmon fishing. She shipped home the frozen salmon she caught to share with family. In her younger years, she enjoyed horseback riding and skiing. Nancy was young at heart and eager to try almost anything she thought would be fun. She especially loved playing cards and games with family and friends, young and old. Nancy made everything fun for all. Family and friends are blessed with good memories of Nancy.
