She was born January 12, 1926, in Marshall, Illinois, to Andrew and Emma (Tingley) Thompson.
Frances retired from American Rubber after 41 years of service. Her greatest love was her family. Frances also enjoyed gardening and playing Bingo.
On May 11, 1945, in Boise, ID, she married the love of her life, Bernard Birchfield, who preceded her in death February 3, 2016. Together, Frances and Bernard were blessed to have shared 70 years of marriage.
Also preceding in death were her parents; three sisters; two brothers; and one daughter, Janet Marie Birchfield.
Surviving are her three children, Nancy Mikesell of Bridgman, MI, David (Barbara) Birchfield and Sharon Place both of La Porte; two sisters; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 29, 2018 at Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Ryan Shockey officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Patton Cemetery, La Porte.
