Bessie was the daughter of William Orville Thompson and Helen Jane "Jennie" (Bailey) Thompson. Her first love was Roy Wesley Key, and they married December 18, 1916 in Greenwood County, Kansas. Roy and Bessie never had children of their own, but they had many nieces and nephews who loved them very much. All of their siblings were very close, and went to school together when young. Growing up I heard about all of the family stories, and knew her to be dearly loved by all. My great-grandmother Lula Bell (Key) Taylor was Roy's big sister. The Taylor family, and Lula Bell and later even daughter Hazel played for all of the barn dances and weddings, etc. in the two counties of Woodson and Greenwood in those days.
