Frederick Louis Diehl, 82, of Sparta, died Monday in Sparta Community Hospital. He was born December 1, 1892* in Belleville, the son of Jacob and Elizabeth Heisner Diehl.
On July 9, he married Mona Bergfield [2nd wife]. He was a World War II veteran. Mr. Diehl was a maintenance man at Lownebaum Dress Factory in Sparta.
Surviving include his wife; a sister, Annie Wittlich of Belleville, a foster sister, Erma Voland of Belleville; four step-children; nine step-grandchildren; and a grandson, John F. Clendenin of Sparta; and two great-grandchildren.
Four sisters, two brothers, a daughter, and his first wife preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in McDaniel Funeral Home, Sparta, with the Rev. John Welch officiating. Burial will be in the Caledonia Cemetery in Sparta.
