Fred H. Wells, 83, Mt. Erie, died at 10:30 a.m. Monday at his home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Hosselton Funeral Home in Cisne, with Rev. Stephen Palmer officiating. Burial will be in Scott Cemetery in Mt. Erie. Visitation is from 6-9 Tuesday.

Mr. Wells was born in Mt. Erie on August 23, 1895, son of David and Malinda (McCleary) Wells. He married Ella Van Fossan on June 13, 1917 in Mt. Erie. She survives.

Other survivors of Mr. Wells include three sons, Fred Harold, Mattoon, Charles, Cisne, and Elmo, Pawnee; four daughters, Mrs. Norman (Anna) Massie, Fairfield, Mrs. Willard (Bernice) Wood, Carbondale, Mrs. Osie (Dorothy)Billington, Olney, and Mrs. Mary Frye, Cisne; one sister, Mrs. Mamie Butler, Merriam, Kansas; 23 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Glen Everett and Gerald Lee; three brothers, John, Charles, and Bill, one sister, Elizabeth, and his parents.

He was a retired livestock dealer and farmer and was a member of the Methodist faith.
