Ruth M. Whitfield, age 96, of Whiting, NJ passed away on Friday, May 12, 2023 at Community Medical Center, Toms River. She was born in Lakewood, but lived most of her early years in Upper Darby, PA. She has been a resident of Whiting since 1956.



After graduating from Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, IL, Ruth served as the Director of Child Evangelism Fellowship of Delaware Co., PA. for ten years. After moving to Whiting, she became an active member of the Whiting Bible Church, serving as Sunday School Superintendent and directing VBS for over 25 years. She was Church Historian and served as Secretary to the Mission Board and later to the Music Committee.



Ruth is predeceased by her son, Kenneth Dean Whitfield. She is survived by her husband Donald of 69 years; a daughter, Dorothy Slothower and her husband Clark of Lancaster, PA; two sons, James of Toms River, and Steven and his wife Brenda from Whiting; and her 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.



A Memorial Service will be held at the Whiting Bible Church on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to either the Board of Missions at the Whiting Bible Church, or to America's Keswick.
