Karen Leigh Davenport, a special child of God, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 2, 2019. Karen was born in Limestone County to Lee Alvis and Effie Nora Pirtle Davenport on September 28, 1959.
She was preceded in death by her parents. One sister, Sarah and one brother, Gerald.
Karen is survived by her brother, George Davenport (Annette) of Noblesville, Indiana; sisters, Alice Evans of Athens, Nancy McCarthy (Jerry Brewer) and Linda Rankin (Charles) both of Decatur; a number of nieces and nephews and a host of people who loved her.
Karen, loved Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and vacationing in the Smokies. In her later years she passed time watching murder mysteries on Investigation Discovery. Also, preceding Karen in death was her precious dog “Opie” who she referred to as “Roommate”.
Graveside Service will be officiated by Michael Scoggins, Larry Brewer and Jerry Brewer at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2019. Visitation from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Family will be assisted by Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with burial in Limestone Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Chris Evans, Samuel Evans, Ben Griffin, Jon Bond, Woody Bond and David Bond.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley, PO Box 5745, 240 Johnston St. SE Decatur, AL 35602.
