He was the son of Edward and Anna (Dzurisko) Fedash. He was raised and educated in Streator and graduated from Streator High School.
Tom enlisted with the United States Navy and served on the U.S.S. Perry for two years.
Following his Honorable Discharge, he attended the Illinois State Police Academy. He graduated with Academy Class #15 November 28, 1955.
Tom was assigned as a trooper with District 5, Joliet. During his tenure, Tom joined the Department of Criminal Investigation, Zone 5, Joliet as a Special Agent. He retired December 31, 1981.
He was a parishioner of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, Coal City. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Tom had many interests, and held memberships with the Loyal Order of Moose, Elks Club, and the Fraternal Order of Police.
He was a car enthusiast and enjoyed antique cars. He was a member with the Thunderbird Auto Club and was recognizable face at Rub Ford, Gardner where he worked during his retirement years.
He was a proud veteran who cherished the life-long friendships he carried with him from his military service and maintained through the U.S.S. Perry Naval Organization.
Tom took pleasure in gardening and loved his John Deere tractor. He earned his private pilot's license and would fly small aircrafts.
His knowledge of the design and history of firearms was extensive, and took pleasure in trying various cuisines, wine and bourbons while traveling with his dear friend, Geraldine Miethke.
Tom was a sociable man, rarely missing a morning coffee at McDonalds with his buddies. He cherished his family, especially pool time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his children; Michelle (Robert) Frobish, Susan (Robert) Melendez, Lynda (Joe) Youskevtch and Dr. Allison (Brad Ruff) Fedash; one step-daughter, Anne (Merle) Elam; nine grandchildren; brother, Richard Fedash; sister, Dolores (Robert) Black and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Alice (nee Pierard) Fedash and his second wife, Betty Togliatti-Fedash.
Arrangements entrusted to the Reeves Funeral Home, 75 N. Broadway Street, Coal City.
