Doris was devoted to her family and community and was an important mother figure to all of the generations of her children, and many of the children in her neighborhood. She influenced multiple generations as she cared for and taught them the value of frugality, the simple pleasure of playing card games and the joyful sounds of the music classics which she loved to sing throughout her days. In her heart and home, all were welcome.
Born February 7, 1925 in Doyle, Tennessee to the late Jasper and Zenobia (Norris) Vance. Doris had been a homemaker and also worked many years as the St Louis Post Dispatch Distributor. Doris was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, she also belonged to the Lions Club and DeSoto Historical Society.
Survived by her loving family son, Roy (Carol) Lewis, Jr. of Anaheim, CA; daughter, Sandra (Everett Edward) Lewis Dahl of Larkspur, CO; brother, Harold Vance of Crystal City, MO; grandchildren, Sarah (Marcus) Tava of Colorado, Wendy (Lane) Jones of Texas, Belinda (Chris) Davis of California, Ben Lewis of California, Gregory Dahl of Washington, Eric (Denise) Dahl of Ohio, Sarah Gongalez of Massachusetts, Barton (Julie) Dahl of Colorado, Lisa Mahn-Donnell (Michael Dietrich) of DeSoto, Jamie Mahn (Tommy C) of DeSoto, Jennifer (Neil) Goff of Georgia, Nathaniel Mahn (Victoria Huskey) of DeSoto; 21 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. She is a loving Aunt of dozens of nieces and nephews of whom she adored.
