Margaret Lucy Berry, daughter of John McDowell II, and his wife, Rebecca Davis, married John Ashlin, the son of William Ashlin, and his wife Dicy, June 25, 1839. … She was born Feb. 12, 1812, near Steele Creek, N.C. and married while on a visit to relatives in Middle Tennessee. Her Father gave her a tract of land near Fisherville, Fayette County, Tenn., where they lived until after her death, June 25, 1851. She was buried in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, near Hickory With, Tenn."
