Anna Belle Daily Austin, 93, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 27, 2014. Born in Big Springs, Texas on June 9, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Stephen Paul Daily and Martha Emma Scholz Daily. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Dr. Dale James Austin; 8 brothers and sisters, including her twin, and 3 grandchildren. Mrs. Austin was a 1940 graduate of Santa Rosa School of Nursing in San Antonio, TX. She and her husband raised their three children in Dallas, TX. She was very active in both the local and state Medical Societies where she held various offices. She was a member of the Dallas Country Club and the Dallas Women's Club. She and Dale retired to the Hills of Lakeway in Austin, Texas, where she was a member of the Hills of Lakeway Country Club and a devoted member of Emmaus Catholic Church, until she moved to Asheville in 2012. Anna Belle was a beautiful, kind and gracious woman. She will be remembered by a multitude of family and friends, from Texas to South Africa, for her love of bridge, bingo, golf, flowers, the Texas Rangers, the Catholic church and her family, but especially for her constant smile, infectious laugh, beautiful hair, and twinkly blue eyes. Anna Belle is survived by her daughter, Sharon Austin Miller (Hezzy) of Asheville, NC; her sons William James Austin (Elida) of Menard, TX and Robert Dale Austin of Creede, CO; 7 grandchildren: Meredith Austin Miller Rutter (Brother) of Virginia Beach, VA; Jason Austin (Jamie) of Austin, TX; Eric Austin of Menard, TX; Lindsay Austin-Forbes (Jake) of Austin, TX; and Natalie, Travis and Blair Austin of Westville, KwaZulu-Natal, Republic of South Africa; 5 great-grandchildren: Carter and Austin Rutter, Ethan Austin and Brandon, Shy Ann and Corbin Forbes; as well as 22 loving nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the professional and compassionate caregivers at the Deerfield Retirement Community in Asheville, NC. A celebration of Anna Belle's life will be held on Sunday, February 9th at 2pm at the Health Care Chapel in Skilled Nursing at Deerfield Retirement Community. A second memorial service will be held in Austin, Texas at a later date.
