She passed away at the Good Samaritan Center, Postville, Iowa, following a long illness. She was born at home on the family farm, rural Clermont, to Swen and Anna (Jauert) Swenson. Reva attended country school and Clermont High School.
She was united in marriage to Oliver Idol Torkelson on November 19, 1927, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. Five children were born to this union,.
Reva worked at the local grocery store, Elgin Echo and for Dr. Wolf as his faithful assistant in Elgin and Clermont for over 40 years. She enjoyed antique sales, playing cards, sewing and tatting.
Survivors include her children, Norma Bloomer, Des Moines, Dorothy (Don) Fauser, Elgin; Delores Everett, Elgin; Janice (Dale) Johansen, Hayes, KS; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Reva was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on September 4, 1978;, son Wayne Oliver Torkelson in 1936; brothers, Roy, Orvie, and Carmen Swenson; son-in-law, Harry Everett; 3 grandchildren, Mark and Kirk Fauser and one in infancy; 3 grand-sons-in-law, Brian Amundson, Danny Schwennen and J.R. Kelchen Jr.
