Walter A. Boyer, 76, of Elbert, West Virginia, died Sunday Nov. 25th in a Welch, W. Va. hospital following a long illness.
Born in Hunter, Mo., he was a son of the late William H. and Hannah Boyer. He had been a resident of Elbert for the past 50 years and was a member of the Baptist Church. He was a member of UMWA Local No. 7635, having last worked for U.S. Steel at Gary.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Susie Ann David Boyer; five sons, Calvin Boyer of Coalwood, Wayne Boyer of Ft. Benning, Ga., Richard Boyer of Niagara Fall, N.Y., and Walter and Lonnie Boyer of Elbert; one daughter, Mrs. Charles (Sandra) Lane of Elbert, and 15 grandchildren.
The funeral was held on Wednesday, Nov. 28th at 2 p.m. at Gearing-Witten Funeral Home Chapel in Welch with Rev. E. E. Boyd officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Bluewell.
